Pakistan Council Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) is to ensure that the people of Islamabad get clean water. It has asked Capital Development Authority (CDA) to install filtration plants in two sectors within the city.
The next step of the initiative depends on how well this first step performs. The council plans to extend the facility to all the other sectors of the metropolitan city. It will ensure provision of abundant potable water to the residents.
Currently, the PCRWR is responsible for monitoring the quality of the drinkable water, educating the provinces about the practices of clean water, and managing the initiatives that aim to address the issue of unsafe drinking water.
Provision of clean and safe water is one of the top 10 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) introduced by United Nations, of which Pakistan is a proactive signatory.
