ISLAMABAD: The Planning Commission approves the Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to construct the PWD underpass and widen the Korang bridge, situated on Islamabad Expressway.
The project will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, the construction and expansion through the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) will be accomplished. In the second phase, the highway will be widened from Koral to GT Road.
The CDWP has asked CDA to place a PC-1 for the approval of PSDP funding before the DWP of the Ministry of Interior and another for the underpass and the bridge to have eight lanes. Within one month after the approval, development work is promised to begin at the site.
The project was already allocated Rs450 million under PSDP previously for the ongoing fiscal year. The next PSDP of Rs1.7 billion has already been submitted to the ministry. Meanwhile, the second phase will be completed under the public-private partnership basis.
