Apple partners up to replace passwords

Apple has partnered up with Fido Alliance. Fido is now Apple’s board member which is an organization is devoted to ending our over-reliance on passwords by replacing them with newer technology.

While Apple already uses interactive security technologies like Face ID, Fido plans to look for ways to replace passwords through technology like biometric authentication and physical security keys.

The company has been working to incorporate U2F for some time now and has included support for FIDO2 security keys in their latest software updates of iOS 13.3 and Safari 13.

Other than Apple, some other tech giants such as Amazon, American Express, Facebook, Google, PayPal, Samsung, etc are also either already associated with Fido or looking to partner up with the organization.
